The problem.

Pimlico Accounting is an established London, Ontario CPA firm, founded 2010, led by Mike Howard, CPA, with 25+ years of experience. The web side needed steady care: a WordPress site, tracking, bookings, and social presence for a firm competing on local searches like "accountant London Ontario."

Behind the website, the firm's IT was scattered. Aging PCs (some on end-of-life Windows 10), a third-party MSP of unclear ownership, flat unsegmented networks at home and office, cloud-storage sprawl, a single-drive NAS, and no monitoring, all under a business that handles sensitive tax and payroll data.

What we built.

  • Site, tracking, and bookings

Ongoing WordPress site care with GA4, Search Console, an NX DAT analytics pixel, and NX RNK rank tracking on 7 local keywords. A GHL booking widget sits behind the branded nexl.ca/doyourtax short link, and NX runs the firm's Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn posting.

  • Private cloud on the firm's own hardware

A Proxmox VE host (Dell tower, Core Ultra 7, 32GB) at the owner's home plus a dedicated Linode in Toronto running n8n, Uptime Kuma, a RustDesk relay, Crowdsec, and a reverse proxy. Vaultwarden, Pi-hole, Glance, and Paperless-ngx run in containers.

  • Secure access and monitoring

The firm got its own Tailscale network (7 devices), an internal CA issuing HTTPS for 7 short .pa service names, 18 Uptime Kuma monitors with a client status page, a live Glance dashboard with machine stats, and daily local Proxmox backups.

  • On-prem AI assistant

A 27-file AI brain, 11 skills, 4 SOPs, 3 reference docs, 2 agents, deployed to the firm's server and bind-mounted into the owner's personal AI workstation container, with a compiled skills-and-SOPs pack delivered for the owner's sign-off.

The outcome.

As of June 2026 the core stack is live: the Linode and home-server stacks, the AI brain, HTTPS .pa service names, the secrets store, Kuma and Glance monitoring, and daily local backups, with 2 staff PCs already SSH-managed. Remaining items, the NAS backup layer, GHL/n8n client intake, and email alerts, are staged and gated only on credentials and owner decisions.
